Stranded
This image was taken at Beaumaris beach, Victoria, Australia.
Walking along the beach at sunset was a hazardous proposition as sand was littered with the stranded bodies of hundreds of jellyfish. Poor things!

This is a good shot. The tentacles of the jellyfish illuminated with a warm prismatic light from the sunset. The colours, the balance of land, sea & sky, too. Excellent stuff.
Please tell me though, as an LX3 user myself, I can see the curvature of the horizon – how did you do it? Thanks

Hi TT,
The curvature of the horizon is caused by the lens on the LX3.
I’ve noticed that the lens distortion inherent in the LX3 is corrected in software depending on the RAW converter used for post processing, it’s also corrected “in camera” when shooting JPEGS.
In the case of this particular image the RAW conversion was done using a program called “Raw Therapee” rather than the software supplied with the camera. It was my intention to leave the horizon curved like that because in my opinion it adds to the image. Of course in other images such curvature would be less desirable and I would correct it.

This is a beautiful shot. You should really be proud of this one!
I’ve always loved wide angle distortion. Of course I also love how my current wide angle minimizes distortion, but that’s why I have a camera that can use different lenses. That lx3 is a fantastic camera though.
